Vigan is located in the north of the island of Luzon. The history began as colonial port under Spanish rule in 1574.Did you know? That Eighty Percent (80%) of population of Vigan is of mixed Chinese and Filipino origin. And Vigan was the only 16th century colonial town in the Philippines to survive. Family of General from the Japanese Imperial Army occupied the town during the World War II. the general and his family took up residence in a typical Vigan-style home. The General's wife is a Filipina.
It was a great experience I had here in Vigan. If you visit Vigan, I would love to recommend you to try the "Empanada", a delicious snack similar to the Mexican Taco, of sauted cabbage or papaya with egg and Vigan Longganiza stuffed in crispy shell made of ground rice.
UNESCO listed Vigan as a world heritage site.
This place is really incredible! I love the structures of the old houses and the food? well, it is great to try their foods here, not to mention the taste of Longaniza? I think that is how they call it if i'm not mistaken from how i remember it!
