Here, you can visit the Discovery Place Museum or check out the Mint Museum of Art. Winston Salem, less than 30 minutes away, is also an excellent destination for a day trip from Greensboro and perfect for a day of shopping or exploring the Winston Salem historic district. Did you know? That the arena has been the home court for the Carolina Hurricanes and a major site for the Eastern Hockey League and league tournaments. In 1974, Greensboro Coliseum hosted the NCAA Men’s Final Four Basketball Championship. When the coliseum was first constructed, it was one of the largest indoor arenas of its kind. Although this is no longer the case, the arena does seat over 20,000 guests for hockey, basketball, and concerts.
