Greensboro Coliseum is the place for sporting events of all kinds in the city of Greensboro, North Carolina.

The coliseum has a strong history of great basketball and hockey teams, however today the indoor arena also hosts entertainment events such as concerts. Greensboro Coliseum is located in downtown Greensboro, close to many restaurants and hotels to stay. If you are in town specifically for Greensboro Coliseum events, consider staying at a hotel near the coliseum; you will find at least 15 that are within walking distance.

A calendar of Greensboro Coliseum events can be found online at the Greensboro Coliseum website which is handy if you are traveling from out of town. Ticket prices always vary depending on the show or event you attend. Tickets for Greensboro NC attractions at the Coliseum can be purchased at over 20 locations, apart from the coliseum. Shopping centers in Kernersville and Winston-Salem all offer tickets. Head to the main customer service center of the Sherwood Plaza Shopping Center, the Summit Square Shopping Center or the Reynolda Manor Shopping Center in Winston-Salem to pick up tickets for Greensboro NC attractions at the coliseum.

Greensboro Coliseum as we see it today was first constructed in 1959, however it was completely renovated in 1993. Greensboro Coliseum events have also evolved from sporting events to include symphony, high school state championships, rock and country music concerts, and other special events.

Since the coliseum is a major center for entertainment in Greensboro, most of the dining activity actually centers on the coliseum. A wide range of food that is not relegated to southern delights can be found in the area, including Italian, Greek, Mexican and more. There are actually over 500 restaurants in Greensboro, so travelers won’t have trouble finding a place to eat. Note that bar-b-cue is of particular popularity in Greensboro (and throughout North Carolina), so if you have ever wanted to try some great southern bar-b-cue, this would be the place to do it. Reservations are a good idea, especially if you plan to have dinner before walking over for an event at the coliseum. If you drive, there is a huge parking lot with over 6,000 spaces. Parking fees are between $3 and $10, depending on the event and how close you park.

If you find yourself with time to kill during your trip to Greensboro Coliseum, try a day trip to the city of Charlotte located about an hour and a half away by car. Here, you can visit the Discovery Place Museum or check out the Mint Museum of Art. Winston Salem, less than 30 minutes away, is also an excellent destination for a day trip from Greensboro and perfect for a day of shopping or exploring the Winston Salem historic district. Another great destination is the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can find great colors of trees and many more.

Did you know? That the arena has been the home court for the Carolina Hurricanes and a major site for the Eastern Hockey League and league tournaments. In 1974, Greensboro Coliseum hosted the NCAA Men’s Final Four Basketball Championship. When the coliseum was first constructed, it was one of the largest indoor arenas of its kind. Although this is no longer the case, the arena does seat over 20,000 guests for hockey, basketball, and concerts.
