The Bermuda Maritime Museum is part of the island's biggest renovation success, along with its surroundings, the cultural hubbub of the Royal Naval Dockyard. Located in The Keep Fortress, the museum is made up of eight historical exhibition buildings and the architecturally renowned Commissioner's House.A plethora of exhibitions on Bermudian general and maritime history, including one on antique Bermudian maps from the 16th to the 19th centuries and another of Royal Navy Collections showing treasured items and furniture, keep visitors constantly spilling through the museum's doors.
The Commissioner's House, where many of the permanent exhibitions are housed, was built in 1827 by the Royal Navy's chief architect, Edward Holl, and restored in 2000 after the Royal Navy finally left its base there in the 1950s.Adding to the magical aspect of the fort are the neighbouring dolphins, part of the Dolphin Quest facility in Keep Pond. Please visit the Dolphin Quest website for further details.
